F.A.Q

What stones do you use?

I use a mixture of semi- precious stones, freshwater pearls and Exquisite Crystals. Semi- precious stones are mineral stones or organic resources or precise rocks that are cut to be used in jewellery.

Freshwater pearls are uncultured pearls which are derived from mussels, predominantly in Asia.

Some of the semi- precious stones used in my collections are Agate, Jade, Aquamarine, Howlite, Regalite, Turquoise, Ruby, Labdorite, Quartz and Kunzite.

I usually select the stones that have a beautiful colour variance, some organic crystallisation and a clean faceted cut. All of these factors combine to highlight the complete beauty of natural stones.

Where do they come from?

The stones are sourced from all over the world. I work with several trusted suppliers who work hard to help me source exactly the right colours and cuts in the stones that I need for my designs.

What Crystals do you use?

I use Exquisite Crystals. They are the market leader and are constantly innovating their offering. Exquisite as a company have a very long and rich heritage associated with fashion, design, film and retail.

Daniel Exquisite’s vision for the company he founded in 1891 was to create ‘a diamond for everyone.’ Today, Exquisite are unrivalled in their constant innovation, and I find their products to be perfect companions to gorgeous natural stones.

I also use a selection of Czech Cut Glass which brings an element of sophistication to designs- the glass beads are produced in the Bohemia region of the Czech Republic.

Who makes the jewellery?

All the jewellery is made by me (Kay) in my studio in Co. Kilkenny. Each piece is an original design, inspired by my travels, nature, my family and the world around me.

Are the metals hypoallergenic?

All the metals are hypoallergenic, lead and nickel free. This is really important to me as I wouldn’t like to expose my own skin to anything harmful.

I use very high quality silver and gold plated earring hooks and clasps all of which are certified lead and nickel free. See Care Info for more details on how to get the best out of your pieces!

Each piece of K Kajoux comes packaged either in a 100% cotton pouch or a signature luxury box with a care insert. The luxury boxes are a fabulous finishing touch to a thoughtful gift. If you are buying a piece for yourself, I recommend using the 100% cotton pouch. It’s so handy for travelling and storage!
